We sang on Friday 11th April 2014, at a fundraising concert in Clara church, to raise funds for Clara National School. We had a super evening. It was a very profitable and enjoyable evening all around.
What a busy 2013 we had. We welcomed new members, singers and musicians. Some members became grand mothers. We sang at 4 wonderful weddings. Our group went to the National Concert Hall to see The Soweto Gospel choir, what amazing voices, we were awestruck.
Christmas was especially joyful with wonderful music in St. Johns church, the Eist fundraiser and singing on Kilkenny High Street to raise funds for The Phillipines. People were very generous. We were delighted to donate money to three very worthy local charities, The O'Neill Centre, The Aislinn Centre and The Kilkenny Guidedogs Association.
We all look forward to an exciting 2014. Thank you to the people of Kilkenny for your support and enthusiasm wherever we have sung.
March and April 2013
Thukolo Gospel Choir had a busy March and April. We participated in a very worthy cause, the concert in St, Fiacres church which raised funds to help send young people with special needs from Carlow and Kilkenny to Lourdes. We are very grateful for all the support received.
We sang at evening mass, during March and April.
Thukolo spent a fantastic Saturday morning and afternoon working with the well known Anton Cullen from the Dublin School of Music and Improvisation, where we developed our Gospel music technique and enhanced our sound. We learned lots, it was a great fun filled day.
As usual we will continue to practice on a Tuesday evening in St. Johns parish day centre at 8pm. We will sing once a month at evening mass in St. Johns, generally on the first Sunday of each month.
